So, today we slept in….. really late
but when we woke up we had a few emails and tweets about this interracial couple deal. We, being an interracial couple, get our buttons “pushed” when we hear or read about these things. There is an interracial couple in Louisiana who, basically, had to fight just to get their marriage license, simply because they were interracial. The man who was supposed to marry them said that it would be useless because so many of these types of couples end up in divorce. (We don’t know the whole story, there might have been other aspects.) Although, those are definitely non-encouraging words to start off your marriage with.
In the beginning of our relationship, we faced much criticism from people because we were interracial. We understand how difficult it is for some couples to just be together when their is so much hate. However, we decided to stick it out because we loved each other and knew that God would lead our way -and He has. Despite all of our crazy imperfections, color is not one of them.
This past weekend, we even had the opportunity to shoot an interracial couple’s wedding. We’ve never been to an interracial couple’s wedding, besides our own. Being at this wedding thrilled our hearts; and it was so awesome to see families at the reception (of different colors and ages) partying and dancing like there were no barriers (as it should be.) Michael and Michelle, you two are truly blessed to have such amazing and loving families! Congratulations!

I was so glad to hear you guys address this. And what timing with Michael & Michelle’s wedding!!
I just found out this weekend (when discussing this story with my mom), a boy I used to babysit for (whose parents are an interracial couple), lost his Mom a year or two ago to cancer. Mrs. Whitford was an incredible lady, and faced a lot of challenges in our incredibly conservative hometown, but always chose to focus on the positive in her life. I was sad about the Whitford family’s loss, but have always been inspired by their AMAZINGLY strong family. I think that’s what bothered me most about that article. The example I had growing up, was a POWER couple!
Cheers you guys!
This wedding video is really beautiful. It captures true love between two people. I was not able to make it, however after watching the video I feel as though I was there, sitting on the front row. Michael you are truly a handsome man and your wife is absolutely beautiful. I could feel the love. Congradulations and I wish the best and many blessing for the you and your wife.
I so agree with this post on your blog. We shot an interracial wedding back in May and it was awesome to see no barriers at all with both families. Eugene and Heather rock with or without color.
