This month we have been so blessed with several great couples who had awesome weddings! Fred & Nekesha are another fun couple who’s wedding we had the privilege of shooting last Saturday! They were married at St. Paul Community Church in Nashville, TN. These two were such a beautiful couple who have such a fun & inspiring story of how they met each other (you’ll see what we mean in the teaser!) We really enjoyed all of the family, friends, & vendors who were involved in this wedding. We really had fun getting know you, Fred & Nekesha!

Is Being Successful Really That Hard?

Have you ever wondered how a crazy couple like us, who have never had a single day of classes in videography, or business, have quickly become one of Nashville’s best videography teams? Of course you do … now that we’ve asked you:)

Well, we’ve been receiving emails from not only videographers here in Nashville, but also videographers from all over the world! The best email we’ve received is from France that said:

“Hello there,

I am writing to you from France! No, I do not wish you come all the way here for my wedding, but a friend of mine gave me your web address as i am about to embark in the video production adventure and need as many tips as possible.”

We thought we had landed our first out of the country wedding:) hahaha:) The fact is, we get emails like this all the time, but we are sometimes jerks and don’t get back to people fast enough. Its not because we don’t want to help others in our industry. It’s mainly because we receive a ton of these emails on top of the emails we get from all of our lovely couples.

So, instead of us being jerks and not getting back to the videographers who are still needing questions answered, we have a little something special for you:)

When we first started 2Duce2 Videography, we would call around and ask other videographers in the area for some help or tips. More times than not, we’d get vague responses, as well as the “I don’t have time for you” responses. We’ll never forget how sucky that felt, so we’ve always said that no matter what happens with us, we’d always be the videographers who would help out others in our industry.

So have you ever wondered any of the following?

- I don’t have the newest or greatest equipment. How can I even begin to shoot weddings?
- I don’t have a website guy, How can I get a sweet website, and build it on my own without knowing crazy website coding?
- I’ve used a PC all my life. Isn’t the best editing software on Macs?
- How do you book weddings using Facebook, Twitter, and other Social media sites?
- How do you deal with photographers?
- Is vendor networking that important?
- What does your final DVD look like?
- How do you deal with music and copyrights?
- How can I cut down my turn around time?
- Are bridal shows worth the money and hassle?
- What type of cameras do you prefer to shoot weddings with?
- Whats your editing workflow?
- How do you find time to blog, network, edit, and still have a life?

We’ve now decided to offer 1 on 1 sessions. We will give you an hour and a half to pick our brains over coffee or lunch. Or, if you don’t quite think that’s enough time for you, we also offer a half a day of hands on training. Feel free to ask us any questions about business, editing, social media, etc. Maybe you would just like to have professionals critique your video. We will answer any of your editing questions, give you more info about editing, and/or give suggestions about your video.

As much as we love shooting weddings, we also love seeing how other videographers have taken what we’ve shared with them, and have used it to bring their business up to the next level!

We’ve said this 8 billion times, but one of the coolest things about our job is being able to connect with so many different people. Most of you will think we just mean meeting new brides and grooms, but in this particular post we’re talking about meeting other wedding vendors! Thanks to the amazing networking tool of twitter, we met Andy Owen of Owen Video out of Michigan. We remember one of the first conversations we had was Andy asking us about something, and of course we gave him our answer. blah blah, nothing special right? Well what really got us was when he said he asked a few other wedding videographers questions and they pretty much didn’t want to give out their “secret recipe”:) We had ran into that same problem here, but thank God for a few great Nashville wedding vendors who back then and today, still help us build up our business. (Oh you know who you are)

Andy went on to thank us for being so helpful, and open about how we do what we do. Awhile later we jokingly said, just come down and shoot a wedding with us (we were only joking because he was all the way in Michigan)…hahaha:) Now by his response we’re pretty sure, (even though we didn’t see it) that if Andy was a child his face looked a little like the one below:) hahaha:)

So after finding a wedding that would work with Andy’s schedule, he came down and picked our brains and watched how we interacted during the wedding. We freakin loved it:) Right off the bat we could tell Andy had a huge passion for wedding videography. Andy was like a huge sponge soaking it all in.

When we first started talking to Andy he sent us to one of his first wedding highlights which wasn’t terrible, but after seeing his latest wedding teaser, it has blown all his previous wedding highlights out of the water! It was so cool seeing Andy take what he had picked up from us and applying it to his own business. He even took a few of our shots and put his on spinn on them.

This being the first wedding Andy shot after hanging out with us, you can only imagine how excited we were to see how great the highlight was! We actually had to call him and tell him how much we loved his highlight! He’s got an amazing eye for videography and we can’t wait to see even more from him and his business:) Keep up the good work Andy!

Brian & Kristin | Wedding Teaser

We have been looking forward to Brian & Kristin’s wedding for a while now! We were curious to see how a wedding planner’s wedding would turn out -and, just as we suspected, it turned out perfect! Kristin wore a gorgeous form-fitting gown & jewels from Arzelle’s & Faccio Bridal; & her beautiful bouquet and reception floral were from Brocade Design.

Their ceremony was held at St. Patrick’s Church in Nashville, followed by their reception at the amazing Country Music Hall of Fame. This, being a planner’s wedding, meant that we had the opportunity to work with some of the best wedding vendors like Sean & Melanie of Mclellan Studio who, not only were very good, but also fun & easy to work with. Kristin, of course, planned everything herself, but hired Corrine Reese of Weddings with Reese to be her “day of” planner. Their reception was well-lit with a little bit of natural light, a few candles, & some up lights provided by the awesome Nashville Event Lighting Their gorgeous cake (which was also dripping with gorgeous jewels) was designed & delivered by Jay of Maples Wedding Cakes; & Brian & Kristin even served the vendors the delicous food which was catered by SoBro Grill & Catering (now owned by the Country Music Hall of Fame.) The night ended in much dancing with music from Cosmo Creations; & a getaway from Matchless Limousine. Congratulations, Brian & Kristin! Your wedding was awesome!

Video Marketing | Promo

While weddings are a big part of the industry that we’re in, we also love creating promos or DVD’s for businesses of every kind. Businesses tend to overlook having a promo video on their website; and what better way to promote your work to thousands of people!
For our latest project, we’ve been working with Zach & Jody Gray of Gray Photography on a workshop DVD for everyone who couldn’t make it to their fall workshops (or who could ) The first day they posted our promo on their blog they received over two hundred views! So keep an eye out because soon orders will be taken for the Instructional DVD of Gray Photography! Until then, we’ll give you a little taste of what you’ll be getting:
